A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle Thursday in Niles and taken to a hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

, the 63-year-old cyclist was pedaling northbound on Shermer Road near the intersection with Hamilton Drive when he was hit from behind by a black SUV-type vehicle, according to a police statement. The impact caused the cyclist to fall from his vehicle, and the vehicle that struck him did not stop. The cyclist was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that appeared to be non-life threatening, according to police.
