The Bureau of Immigration has launched its own Tiktok account to counter trafficking syndicates using the social media platform to recruit victims.BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the account was set up after they confirmed reports that a lot of young urban professionals have already been recruited via Tiktok and Facebook to work at call centers in various Asian countries.
“There is a need to use the same channels to warn would-be victims of accepting such sinister offers,” the BI chief said. Tansingco reminded aspiring OFWs to seek jobs only through legitimate outlets like the Department of Migrant Workers. He added that human trafficking is a big and serious problem that needs orchestrated efforts by concerned government offices in solving it.
