While it's a massive haul for a Democrat running for governor in Texas, it still falls short of Gov. Greg Abbott, who had more than $49 million in his campaign account in February and is expected to post another big fundraising total later today.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke at the “This is Texas” fundraiser at the Freight Gallery in San Antonio on Monday, July 11, 2022.Democrat Beto O’Rourke’s campaign announced that they have raised almost $30 million for their campaign against Gov. Greg Abbott since Feb. 20 and are up to almost $41 million since he got into the race in November.

“We’re receiving support from people in every part of Texas who want to work together to ensure our state moves beyond Greg Abbott’s extremism and finally leads in great jobs, world class schools, the ability to see a doctor, keeping our kids safe and protecting a woman’s freedom to make her own decisions about her own body, health care and future,” the former El Paso congressman said.
