The incident occurred in Teterboro

A Fort Lee man was arrested Saturday and charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident that occurred earlier this week and seriously injured a 75-year-old man.

Tae Lee, 70, of Fort Lee, was also charged for failure to report a motor vehicle accident, authorities said. The incident happened Sept. 13 around 4:40 a.m., when the Moonachie Police Department received a 911 call reporting a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at the intersection of Industrial Avenue and U.S. Route 46 in Teterboro.

The pedestrian, a 75-year-old Paterson resident, was transported to Hackensack University Hospital for treatment of serious bodily injuries, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. An investigation revealed that an SUV operated by Lee struck the victim as he crossed Industrial Avenue and fled the area prior to police arrival.Lee will appear in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.Matthew Stanmyre may be reached at [email protected].
