Despite his new powers in Batman vs Robin 4, Batman admits he'll never master magic. 'Embracing magic fully is impossible for me. It's a matter of submission, and I don't know how to submit.'
The final issue of Batman vs Robin reveals the truth about why Batman will never be able to fully master magic in the DC Universe. Facing down the Devil Nezha who corrupted his son Damian who in turn corrupted the rest of the Bat-Family, the Dark Knight had no choice but to give himself a major magical upgrade with Doctor Fate's helmet. However, Batman himself admits why he'd never be able to use its full power as a sorcerer.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In the culminating Batman vs Robin #4 from Mark Waid, Mahmud Asrar, and Scott Godlewski, Batman puts on the Helmet of Fate, giving himself some major magical power as Nezha had claimed the power of nearly every single DC magic-user and put it into the Helmet, intending to corrupt the entire world into his dark army.
Additionally, Batman's very first encounter with magic while traveling abroad in his origins ties in very well with this new issue in the present. As seen in Batman: The Knight, Bruce Wayne discovers the existence of magic thanks to Zatanna and her father, though he soon learns of its intrinsic temptations and dangers as well.
While Batman could become one of the most devoted and powerful sorcerers of all time, he specifically chose not to in his past during his training. Likewise, he's well aware of his limits in the present due to his unwillingness to give himself fully to the sources of magic in the DC Universe . Batman vs Robin #4 is on sale now from DC Comics.
