After months of filming and years of development, the DCEU's Batgirl movie is finally entering its final week of production, says star Leslie Grace.
Leslie Grace confirms her DCEU film Batgirl is entering its final week of filming. A movie centered on Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, has been in the works for years now, with now-controversial creator Joss Whedon initially being attached to write and direct the film back in 2017. Since then, Batgirl has changed hands and will now be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah . Christina Hodson, the screenwriter behind other DCEU films like Birds of Prey and The Flash, has penned the script.
Warner Bros. had a long list of contenders for the role of Barbara, but in the end, it was In the Heights breakout Grace who nabbed the role. Batgirl marks her DCEU debut, and she'll be joined by franchise alums J.K. Simmons and Michael Keaton, who reprise their roles of Commissioner Jim Gordon and Bruce Wayne/Batman, respectively.
Either way, Grace and the rest of the creative team can go into this final week knowing they're on the road to release. Fans have been waiting for a proper Batgirl movie for years now, and it's definitely good to know there is one that is reaching the end of filming soon. Once production officially wraps, there could be new information revealed about the film, such as plot details or additional casting announcements.
