Destiny 2's new exotic is decent in PvP, but vastly underwhelming in PvE for one main reason.
’s new exotic, Bastion, another day, but for now, as the quest is going live for the entire playerbase at reset, I wanted to talk about the gun itself for a bit, and my early impressions of it from what I’ve played and seen so far.
Its main exotic perk is that a portion of Bastion’s damage bypasses enemy shields. Anti-barrier guns do this a tiny bit, but Bastion really tears into health bars even if shields aren’t broken yet.Ironically, even though when you get the weapon from Saint he laments about how it was used against other Guardians, the first thing you’re going to want to do is to take it into the Crucible, because it’s very clearly a better PvP choice than PvE.
Anti-barrier would change the dynamic a lot here. I do find myself wondering if it might not have it as a precursor to exotics getting artifact mod slots next season, which is something players have requested since day one. Though perhaps I’m arguing against myself here, because if I’m saying that anti-barrier would elevate it to the next level, perhaps that’s a case for intrinsic anti-champion perks being too valuable to give away to all exotics.
