The former president has yet to endorse the vice president since President Biden dropped out of the 2024 race.
In a short statement to social media Wednesday night, former President Barack Obama praised his former running mate, President Joe Biden, for his years of public service, a response to Biden's first address to the nation since deciding to end his 2024 presidential campaign.
He also said that he had decided to drop out of the presidential race to 'pass the torch to a new generation.'The president quickly endorsed Harris to take his place as the Democratic nominee after exiting his campaign on Sunday. A wave of Democrats quickly followed suit by expressing their support for the vice president, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
