TAGAYTAY CITY – International Masters Jose Efren Bagamasbad and Chito Garma topped their respective divisions at the close of 12th Asian Senior Chess Championship held on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Knights Templar Hotel in Tagaytay City.
Asian Chess Federation executive director Casto Abundo, NCFP Board of Director Martin Gaticales, NCFP Chairman and President Prospero Pichay Jr., IM Aitkazy Baimurzin of , IM Jose Efren Bagamasbad of the Philippines and NM Mario Mangubat of the Philippines .
The victory serves as a morale boost for the 67-year-old Bagamasbad, who is scheduled to leave on Monday, Oct. 23, to compete in the 2023 World Seniors Chess Championships set Oct. 24 to Nov. 6 in Terrasini, Italy.Both Bagamasbad and Garma finished with 7.5 points on six wins and three draws.
