The Back to the Future cast, including Christopher Lloyd, Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, and Tom Wilson, reunite in adorable new convention photos.
The Back to the Future cast reunite in new convention photos. Back to the Future debuted in 1985 with Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox leading a cast that included Lea Thompson, Tom Wilson, and Crispin Glover. Robert Zemeckis directed the film about a 17-year-old sent 30 years into the past in a DeLorean by an eccentric scientist, encountering the younger versions of his parents while trying to return to his time.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Thompson recently took to Instagram to share photos of the Back to the Future cast reuniting for FAN EXPO Portland. While she includes photos with The Mandalorian's Ming-Na Wen and Star Trek's Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner, Thompson included several candid pictures of her and the Back to the Future cast. The post also contains videos of her grabbing hugs with Lloyd and Wilson, looking happy to be back together with each other for the fans.
Bob Gale, who co-wrote Back to the Future with Zemeckis, stated that the film's inspiration came from seeing an old yearbook of his father's before wondering if they would've been friends in high school. The movie explores those ideas, with audiences responding to the wish fulfillment and fantastical elements that help the film become enjoyable escapism.
Aside from the two sequels, which were filmed back to back, Back to the Future continues to spawn new content to this day, continuing the films staying power in the cultural zeitgeist. Back to the Future has been adapted into an animated series, video games, comic books, and even a stage musical. So while the original film grabbed viewers upon its release, Back to the Future persists through fans who continue to enjoy the various forms the IP continues to take.
