The Colorado Avalanche is bringing back young forward Shane Bowers for the 2022-23 season, announcing a one-year deal with the Boston University product Wednesday night.
Picked up in a trade with the Ottawa Senators in 2017, the 23-year-old has spent the past three-plus seasons with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL, accumulating 45 points in 117 games. Most recently, he had nine points over 37 games during the 2021-22 season — a campaign marred by an injury that cost him most of the first half of the season.
During his time at BU, Bowers tallied 53 points in 77 games between 2017-19. The Halifax, Nova Scotia, native also played for Canada in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship, notching a pair of assists in five games.
