Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a concern for 92% of Australians polled, and 87% say they are concerned about the cooperation between China and Russia.

SYDNEY, Australia – Anxiety about Russia and China has overtaken Australians’ concerns about COVID-19 and climate change, an annual poll for the Lowy Institute foreign policy think tank found.

Three-quarters of the 2,000 Australians surveyed by the Lowy Institute in March saw China as a military threat, reflecting a sharp fall in the opinion Australians have of their biggest trading partner. China’s ambassador has called on the new Australian government to improve ties, which deteriorated in recent years as China imposed sanctions on a range of Australian energy and agriculture exports, and Australia barred Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei from its 5G network.
