The Austin Whataburger store at 3201 Bee Caves Road will have a “digital pickup lane” that takes the place of a traditional drive-thru. Customers will be able to submit their orders on the fast-food chain’s app or at its kiosks.
AUSTIN, Texas — Whataburger lovers in Austin will be the first to experience the franchise’s new “digital kitchen.” The San Antonio-based burger chain has nearly 900 locations across the U.S. But Austin’s Bee Cave location will initiate the installation of a digital system that will focus on to-go orders.
The order will be put in a locker for pickup., Whataburger Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer Alexander Ivannikov said, “We’re excited to introduce Whataburger’s first digital kitchen in Austin’s Bee Cave to allow for newer, faster and more convenient ways to serve our guests while providing an elevated digital experience.”There’s no word on when Austin’s Bee Cave location will open.
