filed by Audi on November 21, the cars weren't produced with a protective cover for the control module, which sits under the middle rear seat.
The report says that if liquid spills on the rear seats it could trickle down and enter the gateway control module and set off a host of"various internal errors due to short circuits." The module is programmed to switch itself off if this occurs, sending the engine into an emergency mode with reduced power. Audi says the steering and brake system are still operable if this happens.
Audi's solution, unsurprisingly, is to install a protective cover for the module at dealerships free of charge. The company will begin to offer the fix starting on or before January 20, 2023. If you think your car falls under this recall, be sure to head over to
