The Athletics haven’t swept a series since Sept. 24-26 last season against Houston.
OAKLAND — The Athletics came up short of their first three-game sweep of the season Wednesday in a 2-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at the Coliseum.
Ramon Laureano homered leading off the sixth for the Athletics, his sixth of the season. He was answered by former teammate Matt Chapman, who hit his 13th home run leading off the top of the seventh against James Kaprielian. Bichette’s home run leading off the eighth against Acevedo was also his 13th of the season.
Toronto, which snapped a five-game losing streak, improved to 45-38. Adam Cimber was the winning pitcher in relief for the Blue Jays, with Jordan Romano pitching the ninth for his 18th save.
