Antonio Gonzales watched the Astros win their first World Series from a hospital bed.

, anticipating a Game 5 win that night for the Astros against the Los Angeles Dodgers, when an errant driver slammed into his truck on the frontage road at Interstate 69 near Aldine Mail Route. He spun 360 degrees, as debris sprayed everywhere. "He, the other driver, pulled me out and tried to strangle me," Gonzales said as anchored the first base line Saturday night.

Gonzales' injuries were extensive: broken and dislocated legs, cracked ribs and a twisted back. It would be years, and some warned him to keep his expectations of walking as a goal, not a given.So he cheered and made promises, he said. He recorded himself watching Game 7 five years ago from his hospital bed, as he held his toddler daughter.

"I thought I was paralyzed, so I made myself a promise that if I could walk, I would be here when they won again," Gonzales said.More Astros News
