Bregman is a big basketball fan and his parents, Sam and Jackie Bregman, were owners of the NBA Developmental League's Albuquerque Thunderbirds before the team moved to Canton, Ohio in 2011. Bregman, who took and missed the ceremonial first shot before a Rockets game in December, is still friends with Lakers head coach Darvin Ham, who played for the Thunderbirds and later coached the team.
