An assault charge against Tennessee Titans linebacker Rashad Weaver has been dropped by prosecutors in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, according to court documents obtained by The Tennessean.
in May 2021 stemming from an alleged incident on April 18, 2021, in Pittsburgh — right before the draft.
The case was closed on June 28 after prosecutors were no longer willing to pursue criminal charges, The Tennessean reported. The Titans linebacker allegedly got into a verbal altercation with a woman outside the Foxtail bar, and witnesses later said they saw “a large man punch the woman and knock her to the ground on a street outside the bar,”One witness said Weaver had hit the woman, while a second witness said the woman fell to the ground but did not see the football player hit her.
A police officer at the scene wrote that the injury the woman sustained was not consistent with a punch. The charges were brought against Weaver shortly after he was drafted by the Titans in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Weaver has appeared in just 18 games over two seasons for Tennessee due to a broken fibula that sidelined him for most of his rookie year.
Last year, the University of Pittsburgh product recorded 5.5 sacks, 15 quarterback hits and 27 tackles for the Titans.
