.Ardalander announces a new album & drops his new single ICantWait
After nearly a decade of funky tech-house releases and good will, Dirtybird favorite Ardalan is set to release his debut album on the cult-favorite label. It's called scheduled for full release on Nov. 1 with a nation-wide tour kicking off Sept. 8, and its lead single "I Can't Wait" is listenable below.
Ardalan's first Dirtybird single was a 2010 collaboration with Justin Martin called "Mr. Spock, but the Iranian immigrant has been a friend and fellow of the San Francisco crew since he first came to a Dirtybird BBQ in 2007. He credits Dirtybird and its experimental family of artists with giving him the courage and freedom to full explore his own voice, a theme that rings at the heart of the "'Mr.
The lead single is stark and bass-heavy with a booming mechanical beat as foundation for an innocent and dreamy synth melody. Ambiguous lyrical mantras float through raspy vocoders toward a glitchy, percussive hook. It's a cool first taste, more headphone litening than club ready, that leaves the album open with possibility.
“‘I Can’t Wait’ is a duet with my girlfriend," Ardalan says. "It’s one of the last songs I made on my album. Through the process, she was always waiting for me to watchwith her and would say, ‘I can’t wait any longer.’ I never ended up watching it. The song is open to interpretation for the listener.”
