The United States imposed 25% duties on Chinese imports last month. The stiff tariffs hit at the Cupertino, California tech giant’s plans to produce its Mac Pro desktop computers at a plant in Texas. Earlier this month, Apple asked the U.S.
The 2013 model, the company’s only major device assembled in the United States, was manufactured in the company’s Austin, Texas plant. For the new model, the company shifted production to a factory near Shanghai as U.S.-China trade tensions escalated,reported last month. “Final assembly is only one part of the manufacturing process,” an Apple spokesman told the newspaper at the time.
