Apple accidentally leaks Apple Watch Sleep app
It looks like Sleep tracking is coming, and that the listing spotted by the MacRumors reader was evidence that it has been accidentally revealed ahead of time.
There’s a possibility that the release has been delayed for now. And maybe that’s because of the battery issues some Watch users have found.I should say right now that I’ve been using Apple Watch Series 5 since literally minutes after the keynote when it was announced. I have had no battery issues at all. It’s true, the always-on screen does drain the battery more than before – which must be a surprise to precisely nobody – but it still definitely offers full-day life.
But some users have reported life of 12 hours and my guess is that Apple is attending to that issue before it releases Sleep tracking.After all, that will drain the battery in a different way and may require a new approach to charging, encouraging you to put the Watch on the puck for an hour or two before you go to bed so you can wear it through the night.
My guess is that the display will be always-off rather than always-on at night time, so the extra battery drain may not be too great. But you do have to recharge it some time… Anyway, this latest revelation by a sharp-eyed reader means the arrival of Sleep tracking is getting nearer, and fast.
