Anthony Davis inked a three-year, $186 million extension with the Lakers on Friday, and though it doesn’t surpass Brown’s total of $304 million over five years, it sets the record for the highest annual extension in NBA history at $62 million.
Davis was extension eligible this summer, with two years left on the deal he signed following the Lakers’ title in 2020. Davis, a Chicago native, averaged 25.9 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game last season while shooting 56.3 percent from the field.
