The history of arts, culture, and heritage of Angono, the so-called Art Capital of the Country, is now showcased in an art museum.
Dubbed as ‘”Nonó Museum of Art History,” the art museum features the history of Angono’s arts from the time of 18th century Angono Master Juan Senson, whose self-portrait is also being featured, along with his masterpiece, “Vista Parcial del Pueblo de Angono y Laguna de Bay” which is painted on the wall of the gallery.
Also on exhibit is the original manuscript, “Readings on the History of Angono” written in 1969 by Eugenio Lara. Several bust sculptures of national heroes created by a local artist, Francisco Senson, including the biggest of the latter’s collections — a bust of Dr. Jose Rizal, are among the art works on display at the newly opened gallery at the Art Center located on Angono Lakeside Eco Park.
Jose “Pitok” Blanco’s “Mamumukot,” a 1950s 98” x 50” oil on plywood artwork is among those featured in the museum. During the inauguration ceremony held on Feb. 8, Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon encouraged the public, especially the students, to visit “Nonó” for them to know more about the history of the town.
