It certainly has helped the Browns retain cap space. They also dumped contracts for Jarvis Landry, JC Tretter, Case Keenum and Austin Hooper, and restructured Amari Cooper’s deal. Thanks to all that, they currently rank third in available cap space for this year , according to data from Over The Cap.
“That structure is very similar to a number of the large contracts that we already have on the books,” Berry said.Hooper signed a four-year, $42 million deal in 2020, and that included a base salary of $1.5 million in the first year. Hooper’s base salary rose each year, to $4.5 million in 2021 to $9.5 million in 2022.
