FATAL FIRE: An OceanCounty community is heartbroken after four people were killed in a LaceyTownship fire.
Prosecutors say four people, including an infant, were killed in a Lacey Township fire Tuesday afternoon.
Fire crews arrived on Buttonwood Drive around 12:30 p.m. Prosecutors say they discovered a two-story house fully engulfed in fire. Firefighters attempted to rescue the four people inside the home but had to evacuate when the roof collapsed, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors say an investigation revealed that the fire originated on the porch on the west side of the structure. They say the cause of the fire has been ruled accidental. Improperly discarded smoking material could not be eliminated as the cause of the fire.Flowers, candles and a light were found on Wednesday on the curb in front of the home where the family lived.
