We chat with TheWilds EPs heyabbot & abharris about how they approached season 2 of the PrimeVideo series and which member of the Twilight of Adam they relate most to:
The Wilds season 2 has landed on Amazon Prime Video this week, and the cast has doubled in size along with the problems being faced by each character. The teen adventure series follows a group of girls whose plane crashed in the wilderness, forcing them to unite despite their differences in order to survive. But season 2 upped the stakes by going from one stranded set of teens to two.
Sarah Streicher: The truth is it didn't change that much. We wanted to apply the same depth, the same humanity, and the same complexity to this new cast of characters that we've brought in as we did to the first season. Amy B. Harris: No, I think that's right. I think we really wanted to approach it in the way we always did, which is a character-driven show about coming of age. And we got to really use them as a counterpoint, as we're exploring how the boys are learning how to find water and find food; how differently they're doing it than the women.
What do you do with that feeling of joy, and the butterflies have been in love - or at least an intense infatuation? How do you handle that when there's a lot of chaos raining down elsewhere? But we're also out there with them, so I feel a little less Gretchen. Even though we're watching on a monitor, we're suffering a little bit with them.
I hope, as I've grown up, I've become similar to how we're evolving the kids. I think that might be my spirit animal.
