Credit-card debt doesn't deter Americans from traveling or dining out.
Most Americans saddled with credit-card debt aren't willing to substantially cut back their travel expenses, a new survey finds.
Travel expenses qualify as big expenses, so it may be wise for credit-card debtors to begin reducing them, Rossman advises. Credit-card debtors are more willing to reduce their dining and food takeout expenses than their travel expenses. The survey, which has a margin of error of plus or minus 2%, finds 48% of credit-card debtors surveyed are willing to cut their dining and takeout expenses in half.
The survey finds that most credit-card debtors are also unwilling to cut other types of expenses by 50%. Less than 30% of credit-card debtors surveyed say they are willing to cut in half their expenses for beauty/personal care, cellphone services or fitness.
