Richie and Perry will temporarily leave the show to join Andrea Bocelli in performing at King Charles III’s coronation on May 6 at Windsor Castle.
“I can’t wait to guide you through this stage of the competition and career and yeah this is the first time I’ve done this on ‘American Idol,’ I can’t wait to take the iconic ‘American Idol’ stage,” Sheeran said in aThe “Perfect” singer – who will perform his new single live on the show next week – emphasized how excited he is to “meet” the Top 8 contestants and “talk through life and music.”
“Surprise – I’m gonna be guest judging with Luke [Bryan] as well, so I can’t wait to see you next week!” she concluded.
