American Airlines posted its first profit without the help of government support since the Covid-19 pandemic started and said demand for travel remains strong even amid surging prices

The airline, based in Fort Worth, Texas, said Thursday that it expects to post another profit in the current quarter, driven by higher fares and continued demand.
