Officials with the county and Park National Bank are investigating how the errors happened.
Similar to commercial airlines, where redundancies and safeguards are built in to prevent error or malfunction, a treasurer's office has backup and quality control systems to ensure proper payment.But even with optical scanners, check-cashing software and and seasoned people to watch over it, something broke down in Morrow County recently.
"They said 'Yes it happened. They cannot change it. You have to contact your bank," according to the post that has since been deleted. "Nobody feels worse about this than me. There should have been five red flags that showed up immediately to alert people. But they weren't," he said. Bob Boss, Park's regional president, said in a written statement,"While this was not a bank error, we sympathize with the residents who were impacted. As a good financial partner, we are working closely with the county and their processing vendor to support their efforts to resolve the issue.
