The school district notified parents and staff Oct. 13 about the investigation.
An Allen High School teacher placed on leave after allegations were made against him that he communicated inappropriately with a student was cleared of criminal wrongdoing by Allen police.
Whether the teacher violated a code of conduct is up to the Allen Independent School District officials, Adames said. The notification said McDermott, who has taught at Allen High School since 2017, had potentially engaged in inappropriate communications with a high school student. The district also notified the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and the State Board for Educator Certification of the allegations.
