All the Celebrity Reactions to the Hollywood Actors Strike
As the actors’ and writers’ strikes continue, A-list stars across Hollywood are proudly showing their union solidarity at the picket line and on social media.
Following the announcement that the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artistsagainst studios, production companies, and network and streaming services , the entertainment industry’s biggest stars have publicly displayed their support for the work stoppage. By withholding their collective labor, the actors of SAG-AFTRA join striking Writers Guild of America screenwriters in demanding better compensation in a media landscape transformed by streaming. Actors are also concerned with studios’ plans to use artificial intelligence in a manner that could eliminate thousands of jobs.
“At some point, the jig is up. You cannot keep being dwindled and marginalized and disrespected and dishonored. The entire business model has been changed by streaming, digital, AI,” SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescherduring a press conference earlier this month. “If we don’t stand tall right now, we are all going to be in trouble.”
