Subaru to launch 4 EV SUVs, hybrids using Toyota system by 2026. Subaru ToyotaHybridElectric CarGuidePH
Subaru plans to roll out more hybrid and EV offerings between now and 2026. This, as the carmaker plans to catch up in the electrified vehicle race.
Announced by incoming Subaru CEO Atsushi Osaki, the all-wheel drive specialist plans to rapidly expand its electrified vehicle portfolio including four all-electric SUVs planned for release to global markets. Under the roadmap, Subaru will add a dedicated EV assembly line at its Oizumi plant in Japan as early as 2027, with capacity for 200,000 vehicles a year. That will complement a line at the nearby Yajima, Gunma plant that will deliver capacity for 200,000 EVs a year from around 2026.Osaki has confirmed that Subaru will source its next-generation hybrid powertrain and batteries through its alliance with partner and shareholder, Toyota.
Those upcoming hybrids will use Toyota’s hybrid system and will include the all-new Forester which is rumored to hold its global debut towards the end of the year, perhaps at the Japan Mobility Show . Other candidates for electrification include the Legacy and Outback as well.
