Face-to-face classes have been suspended in the province of Albay due to the shear line currently affecting Southern Luzon, with the local government warning residents of potential floods especially in low lying areas.In an advisory released Sunday evening, Albay acting governor Baby Glenda Bongao ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes of all levels, both in private and public schools, until lifted. Alternative modalities were encouraged.
Local government units have also been advised to remain vigilant and maintain 24-hour monitoring of their respective areas, especially those prone to floods, lahar flows, and landslides, along with river conditions.This comes as the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology warned that the shear line may result in volcanic sediment flows or lahars on Mayon Volcano.
