AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man found with more than 17 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Interstate 77 last year has been sentenced by a federal judge to 15 years in prison.
Gus Tell Jr., 56, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sara Lioi after Tell pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute over 8 kilograms of meth, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio. State Highway Patrol troopers pulled over Tell’s vehicle on I-77 on Aug. 28, 2021. A K9 detected drugs in Tell’s vehicle and a search revealed a duffel bag containing 20 packages of meth, prosecutors say.
Authorities say Tell admitted to having the drug and had plans to sell it. Tell has several prior felony convictions for drug trafficking and felonious assault in Summit County.
