An Air India flight from India to San Francisco was diverted due to a technical issue with one of the plane's engines and has landed safely in Russia's Magadan airport, in the country's far east, according to a statement from the carrier.
"The authorities are extending all cooperation in our effort to ensure that passengers safely reach their destination at the earliest," the spokesperson added. "The departure of the aircraft from Delhi to Magadan is scheduled at 21.35 Moscow time on June 6, 2023, the planned landing time is 06.00 Moscow time on June 7, 2023," the agency said in an updated statement on its official Telegram account.
Patel also said it would be possible if needed for the US to take steps"in assessing manifests and passengers who may be bound for the United States."
