With Ahsoka episode 7 devoting some time to Hera Syndulla's New Republic story, then Threepio was drafted in not only as a fun cameo, but something of a savior for the general.
With Senator Hamato Xiono strongly opposed to Hera's actions, rejecting the notion of Grand Admiral Thrawn's return and a rising Imperial Remnant, it was up to the protocol droid to put things right. C-3PO arrived on the orders of Senator Leia Organa, in order to convince the New Republic Senate that Hera had been acting with her approval. And, yes, that is Anthony Daniels playing C-3PO in Ahsoka, reprising the role he first played back in 1977.
