AT LEAST 22 people were dead and 6,138 individuals were displaced following the onslaught of Tropical Storm “Agaton” in Eastern Visayas on Sunday, April 10, 2022.

The retrieval operations were conducted along with Baybay City Police Station personnel, 1st Leyte Provincial Mobile Force Company, Bureau of Fire Protection , and City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office Baybay City. “It is unfortunate that we are again in the middle of a storm. We are hoping for everyone’s safety especially those situated in the shorelines or low-lying and landslide-prone areas,” said Brigadier General Bernard Banac, director of Police Regional Office -Eastern Visayas.Banac said 1,416 personnel were on standby alert as Search, Rescue, and Retrieval , while 187 were already deployed.Meanwhile, 120 areas have remained flooded, of which 23 are not passable.

There were 15 ships, 355 vehicles, and 927 passengers left stranded in different parts of the region.
