We can retire the nickname “the Mathilda Monster.” It has created a nightmare of a commute for thousands of people for more than three decades but Caltrans and VTA and Santa Clara County taxpayers and Apple Computer came up with the money to address this area’s once-narrow roads and make other improvements. Now on to another improvement getting accolades …
Q: Could you please pass along heartfelt thanks to the people responsible for reworking the overpass at Blossom Hill Road and Highway 101? This overpass was re-envisioned in a thoughtful manner that fully addressed many long-standing problems, including fixing a goofy lane shift, providing sufficient left-turn lanes, creating a separate pedestrian space to prevent tragedies like those that occurred when people entering the highway interacted with people crossing the ramp, and more.
This revamp was just so well done that someone should receive an award. Many thanks to all who made this possible.A: Caltrans, the VTA and the City of San Jose worked together to fund and make the improvements at Blossom Hill and 101. A lot of this money came from a sales tax approved years ago by Santa Clara County voters.when I was googling the horrible merge from Rengstorff to 101 to see if there were any plans to improve it.
