BACOLOD CITY — The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) is pushing additional power generation projects to ensure stable transmission system under the new Cebu-Negros-Panay (CNP) backbone, Cynthia Perez-Alabanza, public relations head of NGCP, said on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Neil Martin Modina, head of NGCP Visayas Systems Operations, said that before March this year, the transmission backbone flowing in Negros had only two lines with smaller capacity.'Right now, we have four lines,' he added.Negros Island is producing about 300 megawatts of electricity from its solar power plants, 240 MW from geothermal power plants, and about 26 MW from diesel power plants, totaling to 540 MW, Modina said.The peak demand of the island is 380 MW.
