Additional Game of Thrones spinoffs, including the Jon Snow sequel show, receive a cautious development update from HBO boss Casey Bloys.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Following the phenomenal success of Game of Thrones, HBO began developing many more shows set in Westeros based on the works of author George R.R. Martin, including House of the Dragon. However, of all the Game of Thrones spinoffs in development, the laboriously titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is the only one that has received a straight-to-series order from HBO.
Talking to TVLine, Bloys shared an update on the development of additional spinoffs. The HBO boss acknowledged that they have many Game of Thrones spinoffs in development, though "Dunk and Egg" is the only one that has been officially green-lit. Additional Game of Thrones spinoffs, including the Jon Snow spinoff, are not close to being green-lit. Read his full comments below:
We always have Game of Thrones scripts in development. We greenlit Dunk and Egg in the spring. I wouldn’t say there is anything else in that world that is close to a green light or anything, but we are always working on different scripts and ideas. Every Game of Thrones Spinoff Reportedly In Development A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, which is based on Martin's Dunk and Egg novellas, is the only Game of Thrones spinoff that has been officially ordered by HBO and is set to start shooting in the spring of 2024, according to Bloys. However, there are many more spinoffs that are reportedly in development, none of which HBO has officially acknowledged.
Other Game of Thrones spinoffs reportedly in development are 10,000 Ships, which would follow Princess Nymeria, and The Sea Snake, which would follow Corlys Velaryon's legendary voyages. Flea Bottom and Bloodmoon, on the other hand, are two spinoffs that were reportedly canceled. A spinoff about Aegon's Conquest is one that was just reported earlier this year. With only one spinoff officially ordered by HBO, it appears the network is being careful to avoid oversaturation.
