Academic antisemitism is part of woke war on Western civilization WashTimesOpEd
On Feb. 21, the Gatestone Institute released its report on Palestinian incitement, “Killing Jews Brings Light into the Hearts of Palestinians.”
But what’s called the world’s oldest hatred has also found a home in academia. According to the Anti-Defamation League, in the 2021-22 school year, there were 350 antisemitic incidents nationwide at the nation’s colleges and universities. At the last, flyers warning “Zionists Fu— off” were plastered on the campus’s Hillel House. At the University of Chicago, flyers urged students to boycott “Sh—-y Zionist Classes” — in other words, courses that treat the Middle East conflict with anything approaching objectivity or fairness.
It’s worth noting that another anti-Zionist group, the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, controlled German universities before it came to power nationwide.Other than Asians, Jews are our most prosperous minority, so they must be exploiting someone, the argument goes. It couldn’t possibly have anything to do with a work ethic or respect for learning.
In woke minds, this creates a colonial oppressor/indigenous peoples dynamic. Never mind that Jews have lived in the region since time immemorial — usually in countries where they were routinely persecuted. That America was founded on the values common to both Judaism and Christianity should be enough to damn it in the eyes of the left.
The Rhyming Reverend, who has pronounced anti-Jewish feelings , might as well have been chanting “the Jews have got to go.”
