Police Lt. Gen. Manuel Abu was named as the Chief of the Directorial Staff of the Philippine National Police the fourth highest position in the police organization.
Abu’s appointment was confirmed by Police Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., PNP officer-in-charge who signed his appointment effective May 15. As the Chief Directorial Staff, Abu will supervise the operations of the ten PNP Directorial Staff in managing different staff functions of personnel management, intelligence, operations, logistics, plans, training and doctrine, research and development, police community relations, and investigation.
A member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1989, Abu was the PNP Area Commander for Eastern Mindanao before he got his current position. He also served as the PNP Regional Director of the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
