and coach Pete DeBoer are experimenting with different formations., preventing the Stars from forming complete power play units but allowing them to test things out during the preseason. During morning skate on Monday, the Stars tried a top unit that featured Roope Hintz at the net-front and Joe Pavelski on the half-wall, both unfamiliar locations for the offensive dynamos.
The complete top unit had Miro Heiskanen at the point, Pavelski in the left circle, Jamie Benn in the slot, Wyatt Johnston in the right circle and Hintz at the net-front. The second unit had Ryan Suter at the point, Nils Lundkvist in the left circle, Mavrik Bourque in the slot, Denis Gurianov in the right circle and Mason Marchment at the net-front.
Maybe Lundkvist could supplant Suter at the point on the second unit. Perhaps Hintz or Seguin can move inside to the bumper or to the crease. Robertson could fit in the middle given his hockey smarts and ability to win pucks in tight spaces.The Stars waived forward Marian Studenic on Sunday despite a strong preseason in which he created scoring chances but never finished.
