Work in government offices in the province of Abra has been suspended on Thursday due to heavy rains brought by Severe Tropical Storm BettyPH.

Exempted from the suspension are government offices involved in critical emergency service and disaster risk reduction.

Meanwhile, suspension of work for private offices is upon the discretion of the respective office heads. As of 4 a.m. Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the center of Betty was spotted some 505 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes with a
