LIMITED ACCESS has rendered the town of Crested Butte, Colo. , frozen in time. When local business shifted from mining to skiing, in the 1960s and ’70s, the newcomers imported a laid-back counterculture that hasn’t really evolved, explained Chicago native Ingrid Gebavi.
After visiting over three decades, the real-estate investor succumbed to “the funky little town.” She gutted a ramshackle Victorian, drafting interior designer Carolina Alling of local firm I.D Studio to create a framework including beadboard and antique-pine flooring.
