Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure temporarily closed on May 24 when guests reported smoke coming from one of the ride’s race cars as it crossed the finish line. Now, a week later,“A Disneyland spokesperson confirmed that there was an issue with a single vehicle,”, and that the ride “will remain closed indefinitely ‘out of an abundance of caution.’”
The Disney representative also said that guests might see Radiator Springs Racers being tested without riders before it reopens, but over the long weekend, no parkgoers reported seeing tests. Instead, what the park offered was an entertainment area near the closed ride queue, with cornhole games set out for guests to play, as well as pin trading and cast members giving out stickers.
Located in Cars Land, Radiator Springs Racers pits two “Cars”-themed ride cars against each other in a road race, at top speeds of 40 mph.
