A’s outfielder Stephen Piscotty goes back into starting lineup on first day back after contracting COVID-19.
OAKLAND — Stephen Piscotty was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Saturday and went right into the lineup in right field for the A’s against the Texas Rangers.
“I feel good, honestly,” Piscotty said. “I didn’t have it too bad. The one day I tested I had some body aches, went for the test, and that was honestly the worst of it. I don’t sound great but I’m getting rid of some of the stuff. I’m fully negative now.” Piscotty said the plan wasn’t originally for him to start right away, but said he and Kotsay decided, “let’s just go. There’s no reason to wait around. I was excited to see that text that they were ready for me to get in there and I feel good enough to do it.
Kaprielian has been on the injured list since April 4 with a shoulder injury and also made one start in Single-A Stockton. After throwing 78 pitches for Las Vegas, Kotsay is hoping to up the ante in Kaprielian’s next appearance. Included were home runs by Nathaniel Lowe and Andy Ibanez as well as a swinging bunt single that was simply bad luck.
