Authorities say Stephen Clare shot his ex-wife and stabbed his two infant daughters, one of whom later died. She was two days shy of her first birthday.

She was in very poor condition.
The testimony comes a month after authorities say Clare threatened Gardner with a gun at her home in the 500 block of Robinhood Place in the Northridge Park neighborhood north of Alamo Heights. Clare chased Gardner outside her home and shot her once, officials said. Gardner went back inside. Investigators said Clare shot her several more times as she tried to defend her children, and stabbed his daughters in their stomachs, according to an affidavit supporting his arrest. Gardner’s two older boys from a previous marriage were also at the home and fled for safety during the incident.
Willow died shortly after she was taken to an area hospital. She was two days shy of her first birthday, her mother said.
