The father-son team were behind local landmarks such as the McNay Art Museum, Municipal Auditorium and the Tower Life Building, and their work was often in the Spanish Colonial Revival style featured in the city's posh older neighborhoods.
According to a 1920s newspaper article supplied by the listing agent, the property was the first of 80 built on Monticello Park's Mary Louise Drive, touted in its day as San Antonio's"Million Dollar Street." The development would represent the"highest type of architectural beauty," the story gushed. To that end, the four-bedroom, two-and-half-bath home boasts a sunroom with distinctive arched windows and its original decorative tile floor. The front entryway repeats that arch shape, and striking wooden beams run across the entryway ceiling.
